Special Message from the Friends of the Fiske – November 11, 2020
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Every year the Friends of the Fiske send out our Annual Appeal to both inform you of what we’ve been able to do to support the library in the past year, and ask for your support in the coming year. Because of the continuing pandemic and the library’s closure, we have decided not to conduct our appeal this year.
Before the shutdown, we did have the opportunity to sponsor a few library programs, including the Harry Potter Party, the Jeff Snow Music Program, and awarded a scholarship to Wrentham resident, Charlotte Colella. We plan to again offer a scholarship to a graduating high school senior in 2021. They must be a Wrentham resident, but this year we will not require that their parent/guardian be a member of the Friends of the Fiske.
To help fight the shutdown boredom, the library and the Friends have put free books outside to be enjoyed by all. The Friends also recently started offering “Bags of Books” since we are not able to have our ongoing book sale with the library being closed. Many patrons have in turn generously made monetary donations to the Friends, and for that we are very grateful – thank you! As a 501 (c)(3) organization, your donation to the Friends may be tax-deductible, so if you would like to make a donation for your tax-planning purposes, your donation will be greatly appreciated, but is not expected this year.
We look forward to the reopening of the library and being able to once again help the library to offer quality programs for patrons. Until that time, please stay safe and healthy.
The Friends of the Fiske Public Library Board

Friends of the Fiske Library Mission Statement
The Friends of the Fiske Public Library is a non-profit organization established in 1977.  The Friends are dedicated to raising funds to purchase equipment and materials that the library town budget would not otherwise be able to support.  They fund special programs and museum/zoo passes to encourage community participation for adults and children. The Friends are governed by an Executive Board that meets in the library meeting room, the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm, September through June.

Who is a Friend of the Fiske Library?
A Friend of the Fiske Library is a person or family that contributes to our annual appeal fundraiser. A mailing is sent to each Wrentham household (Fall) for new and renewing membership. Patrons may sign up at any time of the year. As a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN: 22-2581040) your contribution to the Friends of the Fiske may be tax-deductible.

How can I help the Friends of the Fiske Library?
The Friends are always looking for book donations. Donations of clean, gently used books for our ongoing and yearly book sales may be dropped off in the library lobby during regular business hours.  Kindly do not leave books outside the door when the library is closed.
We do NOT accept the following:
•    Books missing covers
•    Books that have water damage or odor
•    Encyclopedias
•    Books with yellowed, aging pages
•    VHS movies
•    Magazines (those can be left at the front desk for the free magazine swap; current publications please)
